Yearly Maintenance Fee

Pay your maintenance fee online.

In order to maintain your CFLE designation in active status, you must pay the Yearly Maintenance Fee. This fee helps to cover the cost of the CFLE newsletter Network, the CFLE Directory, the CFLE Listserv, and general maintenance and marketing of the program. Invoices are sent to all active CFLEs in January of each year.

The CFLE Yearly Maintenance Fee in 2009 will be $60 for NCFR members and $85 for non-members.

An Affiliate category is available for CFLEs who are unable to pay the regular maintenance fee for financial reasons or are unable to earn continuing education credits.

Affiliate CFLEs pay a reduced Yearly Maintenance Fee of $35 for NCFR members and $45 for non-members. This payment entitles them to the CFLE newsletter Network. They do not receive the CFLE Directory and are unable to promote themselves as current CFLEs. They are not required to submit documentation of continuing education activity until they wish to obtain Full status again. Affiliate status is available for no more than two years. Affiliate CFLEs must then return to Full status or forfeit their designation. The Affiliate category is intended to allow CFLEs a “holding period” when faced with financial hardship or health issues that make it difficult for them to work or earn continuing education credits.

A Retired category is available to CFLEs who are no longer actively working in family life education but wish to maintain connection with the program. Retired CFLEs receive the CFLE newsletter and can subscribe to the CFLE Listserv. They are included in the list of CFLEs (Retired status noted) but are not able to market themselves as active Certified Family Life Educators. The yearly maintenance fee for Retired CFLEs is $35 for NCFR members and $45 for non-members.

Emeritus status is an honorary status awarded annually to a small number of retired CFLEs who have made significant contributions to the field of family life education. Emeritus status recognizes the awardee's continued commitment to the field and life-time affiliation with the CFLE program.

PLEASE NOTE: The CFLE Yearly Maintenance Fee is separate from membership in the National Council on Family Relations. If you are an NCFR member, you will receive a membership renewal notice each year around the time that you originally joined NCFR
