CFLE Certification > Maintaining your Certification > Recertification

Recertification

In order to maintain the CFLE designation you must submit evidence of 100 hours of continuing education activity every five years. Continuing education includes additional academic courses completed, attendance at conferences, seminars, workshops and trainings, and work experiences that are new or different from those included in your original CFLE application, i.e. development and/or teaching of a new course/program, etc.

All the directions and forms needed to apply for recertification including the CFLE Continuing Education form, CFLE Continuing Education Requirements, Guidelines and a sample format are available in Adobe® acrobat™ format below.

Submission Deadline
Credits are due every five years. Designates will be sent a reminder notice approximately six months before the credits are due. Designates are given a full five years in which to earn the continuing education hours and an additional four months in which to report them to the NCFR office. For example, a CFLE designated in November of 2005 would have until November of 2010 to earn their credits and until March of 2011 to report them to the NCFR office.

Fees
The recertification fee is $50 for NCFR members and $75 for non-members and is payable upon submission of the credits.
