Family Relations: Interdisciplinary Journal
of Applied Family Studies

Journal of Family Theory & Review is a publication of the National Council on Family Relations (NCFR).

The Journal of Family Theory & Review seeks to encourage integration and growth in the multidisciplinary and international domains of inquiry that define contemporary family studies. The journal publishes original contributions in all areas of family theory, including new advances in theory development, reviews of existing theory, and analyses of the interface of theory and method, as well as integrative and theory based reviews of content areas, and book reviews. The Journal draws from a broad range of the social sciences although scholarship based within the fields of family studies, sociology, and allied disciplines, developmental and social psychology, communications, health and allied fields is favored. Families are viewed broadly and inclusively to include individuals of varying ages and genders, sexual orientations, ethnicities, and nationalities.

JFTR is peer-reviewed and published quarterly in March, June, September, and December beginning in 2009.

JFTR considers book reviews and review essays as an important part of our mission. Authors who wish to have their books reviewed, or those who wish to write a review or review essay are encouraged to contact the book review editor.

Consistent with our mission, JFTR does not publish empirical reports with the exception of meta analyses of content areas.

Potential authors are encouraged to contact the editor with any questions regarding the development or preparation of a manuscript.
